Moviejournal: the invention of lying, in time

Happened to watch two films of unconventional themes this weekend. The invention of lying on network tv and in time on channel torrent. first off on the invention of lying: what a brilliant twist. I was hooked on the surreal world of no lying. it's much like jim carrey's liar liar on steroid for the entire world since year dot. as implausible as the concept sound, the film delivers fantastically on witty punches and great acting. Ricky Gervais is one of the greatest comedy mind of current british crop. note to myself: seek out more stuff by him. the supporting american actor/ess are brilliant, event tina fey is in it!!! my all time favourite. however i couldn't imagine how a world would come into existence as it is today without a bit of imagination. see, i used imagination right there. i would've thought lying is somehow indirectly related to imagination and hence the whole creative juicy thing that fuels social progression and tech advance. a world without imagination is dreadful indeed. advertising for one would not be possible to exist which goes with it billion dollar industries. oh well, i'm likely be picking the wrong bone here with this comedy anyway. the moral of lying to me is unquestioned. it's the engine oil that lubricates this coarse and unrelenting world. it sure makes every little scar and wound that much more bearable in this cruel world. actually it conforms to psychology according to what i've recently read in black swam. ( i seem to be obsessed with the black swam ideas lately...). we need something, maybe lies, to cling to in this uncertain world. if there is no lie, we create them to suit our mental needs. there are, furthermore, many layers of lies. indeed i think without the ability to lie, our daily information intake and conversation would dry up to such an extent that we have nothing to talk about. actually i lied, i probably confused speculation on unknown events with actual twisting of the truth.. hmmmm..

in time

justin timberlake, as i've reported before, is on a roll. this time around it's getting steamy and hot with the classic beauty amanda seyfried. unfortunately seyfried wasn't showing much skin in this one during the only strip poker scene... pity. anyway, this little flick is pressing the issue of how time is measured from different eyes. we all have a ticking timebomb on our hands. actually it's called aging. we probably have 70 good years left on everyone. sigh.

on this sad note, i think i'll sleep.
