The last few months and days draw up rather interesting and altering paths for the world as we know it in this planet. I just had a very long serie of mental flashes after watching an episode of altered carbon season two ep 1, and wanted to have a quick nap before embarking on more of the mundane work I was assigned to do. By the way the work is mundane and but not overly uninteresting, the best kind of paid work one should say.
Back to the long winter. I was also looking at these mindless plane journey videos on YouTube in this kid-less day when Frances is doing the accounts for school, and have realised the reality has changed forever. Before the vaccine comes out in 12-18 months, we will have to stay virus free and employed to come out of the other end unscathed. The impact on the kids for not attending structures learning and completely homeschooled is also not to be understated. I suspect English skills will take a hit for them.
It’s important not to be sucked into the phone addiction when we are at home. Similarly without a global recovery and eradication of virus in most developed world, air travel will take a very heavy toll as well. We are lucky to have travelled a lot before this global crises and have only lately tasted the best of Japan and Singapore. This can be be said for most people and I suspect the same won’t be possible for anyone to enjoy before this year is out.
Cruise industry will be decimated and being the Petri dish and virus hotbed it is , its very hard to see it bounce back anytime soon. Overwhelming objection saw online against Trump’s rescue shown that.
So the entire service industry is out for at least next 2-3 months and possibly more, which employs maybe half of the eligible staff in the world? Many big and small business without a deep cash reserve will fall and that has a huge cascade effect on home mortgage , home sales, rental, luxury good sector. Luckily IT is well sheltered and might even benefit from the shirk from real interaction. Will need to capitalize on that, powerapps and Dynamics seems to be the good vehicle to take advantage.
