Moviejournal: Allied

a major blockbuster that i didn't know existed. excellent performance though the story isn't so layered as expected around the spy thread. brad pitt and marion are both polished performers and didn't disappoint. you can kinda see Brad's botox in this one though.

Moviejournal: downsizing

Matt Damon supplies just the right amount of every middle American man in this brilliantly thought out film. it starts off bubbling along the politically correct "less carbon footprint" trend but quickly made viewers realise its much more. The protagonist has gone through a weird awakening in his life where he choose to re-orient his life for some perceived higher purpose through his serendipitous encounter with the vietnamese dissident and the beautifully shot Norway fjords. However as it is comedically pointed out, life was nothing more than age old religious comedy repeating itself. Sharp.

Awesome film highly recommended

好片子 听说小说改编。日本演员那种执着纯净的生活与演绎精神我国演员真比不了。

作为一个半科幻半情节片很成功啊

Moviejournal: The Darkest Hour

Wow Garry Oldman what a performance
Wow Lily James what a beauty

Dark being the mood of this film the lighting couldn't be any darker or else we would all require infrared glasses in the movies. Pressure are so tangible for a nation with enormous pride. each scene has been used to great effect. Didn't know churchill had a hand in Galipoli though. And he apparently had a strong and rewarding marriage.

Contrasts fiercely with earlier reading about him being a rampant racist where he doesn't want to know about India's famine towards the end of the war. Probably a feature of british politicians of that era more than anything.

Odyssey review 1 month in

Odyssey review

Last 2 months has been such a flash even without Ryan around, work has been hectic and I regularly had to work at nights.

Have had Odyssey  for couple of weeks now, seats are definitely plush although the driving position isn’t perfect. Usually this gripe of driving position can only be fixed by having longer reach in steering wheels, yet alas.

Odyssey has all the right and somewhat unnecessary bells and whistles such as the radar cruise, (quite useless) lane keeping, self parallel and reverse, yet it lacks the rain sensor wiper and boot auto open and close. One would think a rain sensing wiper these days has insignificant cost.

Fuel consumption is definitely an issue, especially when unleaded fuel is at a whopping 140 cents per litre. It’s currently running 11.1 liters per 100 km.

Packaging wise, would have preferred the third row seats could split - hide, but Henry said it is a structure concern so that’s that.

I mean for 47k brand new, it’s half the price of the imported Alphard so yeah bargain.
